Gun rights in Iowa

Go Idaho! I mean, Ohio. Or something…

Overall, I think I like this. Mostly because it makes liberals mad, and it’s fun to watch (or read) them get all pissed off about it.

On the other hand, that guy does have a point — what the hell is up with raised whachamacallit (my dictionary says “nab” — but I am not sure…) at 0:44? I also agree that this was a bit silly — who cares about your exercise of your right to carry a gun in a zoo? But whatever — as a Russian saying goes, “Whatever the baby plays with, as long as it doesn’t cry” (OK, it sounds better in Russian). Let the goyim chak in chainik. (I loved the “until they are old enough to carry a gun, their children carry a knife”. As TRS says, more kavana for “she lo asani goy”.)

I wonder if opening a gun store in CH would be a good business venture.

Sorry, but I have to say this: boo at Wisconsin. Or at least the idiots in charge of it.

I was talking to a fellow student at an AIPAC seminar from Georgia, apparently there's a town there that legally requires anyone eligible to own a gun to have one.

STUPID, STUPID CALIFORNIA! STUPID Dianne Feinstein!

As a citizen of Wisconsin, I would like to second the boo motion.

unrelated: I don't have the time to investigate these things right now, so perhaps you could help me on this point:

The holy troika of Hayek, Mises, and Friedman and their followers have always said that the New Deal prolonged the depression, and the real boost came from the WWII effort. This has been getting a lot of coverage lately.

If deficit spending causes inflation and impedes economic growth, in what way did the war spending differ from, say, public works?

WWII did not pull the country out of Depression. That’s ridiculous. War always costs money and is destructive.

Otherwise, create two factories: assemble tanks in the first one, ship them to the second one and take them apart. Ship the parts to the first factory and repeat the process. Employ a lot of people on both factories. How’s this going to help the economy?

I don’t remember exactly the Austrian argument. It’s either that once Roosevelt was gone, things restored themselves, or that after the end of the war, the government was forced to stop Roosevelt’s economic policies.

The impression that the country left the Depression during WWII is mistaken.

In general, see this. You can also search for "war and depression" on mises.org, but watch out for the pacifist nuts.

Another statement that I heard was that Roosevelt needed industry for the war and as a result had to take the noose off its neck.

The "whachamacallit" is what we Wisconsinites call a hammer.

Gun store in CH - no way. Those Jews are about as wussified by city life as it gets. Like just about everyone in NY, they are in some form or another on the dole, and cower accordingly.

Of course I know some a few hics, relocated from the old country, who keep loaded firearms at strategic intervals throughout their property.

re: depression, war: I can't argue with your logic. Which is why it puzzled me. That the "war is good for economy" view persisted even as Keynesianism was widely discredited is still baffles though.

I don’t think you’ll find too many Austrians saying that. In fact, this is the major message of one of the Austrian main popular book, Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt: no economy boost or overall social benefit can ever happen from any kind of destruction or “wealth allocation”.

Why are we booing Wisconsin?

There is never a reason to boo Wisconsin.

It’s illegal to own guns in WI. That’s why the boo. But as I said — you can change that to boo re: WI leaders.

I don’t know. Somebody told me that WI and IL are the only states to have “no issue” policy towards gun carrying. Perhaps this is only referring to concealed weapon carrying or carrying in general. I am not such a big expert on guns or guns rights.
