I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard something like this said about an athletic activity. Mountain climbing, skiing, scuba diving, jumping from airplanes without parachutes, sailing (well, sure, sailing does somewhat push your horizons, but in rather unimaginative, literal way) don’t even come close.
