Listen to the Rebbe

Thanks to TRS for sending me this link. Interesting story there:
When the Alter Rebbe sent the manuscripts of the Tanya to be printed, he instructed the chassidim charged with that mission not to show the text to anyone. The chassidim, however, met a very great sage (his name was forgotten), and showed him the manuscripts. He perused them and was overcome with awe. Holding them in his hand, he exclaimed: “How illuminating! How illuminating!” Chassidim would say that with these words, he removed the light from the Tanya. Its inner G-dly power did not shine forth as forcefully and its intellectual dimension was emphasized.
While I don’t necessarily object the intellectual dimension being emphasized, this is a cautionary tale for those who reveal something (even if it’s true) that the Rebbe asked not to reveal. This should suffice for those of understanding.

For those without understanding who wear yellow flags: I am talking about you.

(Recently I was asked if I was “neutral”. I answered that I was “drive”.)

This is sort of revisionist and superficial. I am not saying your supposed to scream it from every roof top but it can be easily shown that The Rebbe encouraged certain aspects of such publication and right before Gimmel Tammuz the status quo was to do certain such things. Gimmel Tammuz shouldn't change anything. Its all politics and revisionism :-/

Yeah, the fact that major chillul Chabad is happening is all politics and revisionism.

I don't want to have another mishichist vs. anti vs. neutral vs. reverse vs. shut up everyone! vs. omg, this is so old vs. huh? argument here.

I also don't want to compare with a magnifying glass what the Rebbe meant in this sicho, and in that sicho, and what the context was, and what the context of the context was, etc., etc.

On a pshat level (which, yes, may be superficial), it was obvious that the Rebbe did not want chillul Chabad to happen. Chillul Chabad is happening. End of story. I am ok with people believing whatever they want to believe and even spreading the message, but it has to be done intelligently.

In my youth I had a thought that Lubavitch could be united if everyone would become idealistic antis or pragmatic meshichists.

I think I heard the Rebbe say in the name of the Alter Rebbe, "A lie one cannot say, but not every truth must one scream from the rooftops."

That's why the people who say that the Rebbe is not Moshiach are liars, but those who scream about him being one from the rooftops are idiots.

I'm not saying to scream from every rooftop. But there are those who say anything having anything to do with The Rebbe being mashiach is a chillul lubavitch. Okay you know what? There is also chillul lubavitch which happens just because we learn Chassidus at all, or because we farbreng. Maybe we should be quiet about those things also.

That's the difference between Jews going towards E"Y according to their wishes and because Moshe Rabbeinu told them. We have to minimize chillul Chabad, but we have to do what the Rebbe told us to do.
