I present to you J.W., one of my suitmates in college (physics, math and glass blowing triple major). Thanks to my other friend for posting this video on her FB profile.
You sounds like a colleague of my mother's. On some conference, some guy gave a long presentation about behavior of white cranes (birds). After the presentation, somebody from the audience asked: "What is the application of white cranes to the agriculture?"
TRS wants a bronze of his hat. This is interesting. There's a famous artist my friend once told me about who does giant works that hang from ceiling to floor. I'll try and get his name.
I didn't know you knew the artist. Perhaps he will do a glass hat for Mr. TRS, an uncontrolled glass hat that "does it's own thing." Funny that he is good with glass, which is so fragile, but broke a shower. Is the book good? Perhaps I will get it from the library.
The artist was my suitmate, as I said. We shared a really big bathroom area with two other people (my roommate and his roommate, both my friends). He always worked late and came back with burns on his hands and clothes.
J.W. was a very cool guy. He seemed to have unlimited stores of melatonin. We would be watching Futurama or Faulty Towers or something (Mystery Cinema 3000, or whatever it was called), and he would be sitting on the bed. He would say, "OK guys, good night" and just fall asleep on the spot.
He seems much better with more chaotic things. I am not sure though.
The book is a masterpiece but is a bit Christian. Actually, very Christian. And not tzniusdik. I'd start with other things by Bulgakov. Like Doctor's Notes. Or White Guard. Or his short stories.
I always admired people who manage to fall asleep anywhere at anytime. He seems like an interesting person, most of my peers are just older women and creepy men. With the occasional pansy. I'll look up Bulgokov.
I just looked up "pansy". Is that the artistic world of today?
I wouldn't say he was my peer. Just a friend of a friend. And actually of another friend, the one who posted this video and made it. But he was an interesting guy. Btw, we are not sure, but he may have broken shower with getting it stuck with his long hair. One would think this would happen when my roommate and I were sharing a bathroom with two girls (because of a mistake in the housing, who thought my roommate was a girl because of his first name... not sure what they thought about me...), but no.
Bulgakov. And the first book is actually called "A Country Doctor's Notebook". But White Guard is also good. They made a movie from it called Dni Tyrbinyh (Дни Турбиных), Days of Turbins. About how revolution came to Kiev.
Bulgakov is the last great classical Russian prose writer. Together with Akhmatova and Tzvetayeva for poetry. After him you have Dovlatov, but he is not classical anymore. I guess in music you'd compare him to Shostakovitch. In art -- I don't know much about Russian art actually. Maybe Kandinsky.
Btw, have you heard of Peredvizhniki? Repin et al.?
I always imagine that there is a chance that this is how I will look in 30 years. First thing in the morning. (It's famous Russian composer Mussorgsky's portait by Repin.)
"Pansy" is a word my brother uses to describe gay people. Also "Fruity." I don't know much of Russian Literature, but I'm slowly making my way through the assignment section of the Brooklyn Library.
I know of the artist Repin, but I did not know about the movement. I'm not sure where my brother got the word, he could have made it up or heard it from a friend of his but a pansy is a flower so it makes sense. I assume it's for homework assignements. I find the books are much better there than the rest of the building, which is filled with urban ghetto literature.

ya voobshe ne ponil. that big lump at the end of the stick is what he's trying to make? What could one possibly do with those funnily-shaped things?
Put it in your living room.

I.e., no appreciation for the beautiful...
beauty? Those are just lumps.
It's all in the eye of beholder.
Don't criticize art.
Actually, one of J.W.'s works is a good present for TRS. Maybe for a birthday. Or 1-year anniversary.

Stalactites/stalagmites?
Some look like them, but it's glass.
Glass is pretty fascinating.
I think J.W. once gave me a present of some glass thingy. Or to my roommate. I gave J.W. a copy of "Master and Margarita".
Also, he had long hair. And one time broke our shower.

Of course you knew the artist, you wrote that in the beginning of the post. I went straight to the video and didn't see it.

i like the music.
I prefer Shostakovitch. Maybe conducted by Gergiev. For example
Dude, every time anybody shows pictures of Moscow they show avoida zara. Avoida zara and Pushkin.
"Pansy" is a word my brother uses to describe gay people. Also "Fruity."

— My mother says our neighbor is a fruit.
— My father says my grandmother is a vegetable.
— Well, that’s not very nice.
(Where’s that from?)
What’s assignment section? As in homework assignment?
Peredvizhniki were an art movement (with Repin as the main mover... there is a pun there somewhere if you know Russian).
I know of the artist Repin, but I did not know about the movement. I'm not sure where my brother got the word, he could have made it up or heard it from a friend of his but a pansy is a flower so it makes sense.

The word is a correct word; I've heard it before (although it was in an ambiguous context). Is your brother older or younger than you?
He's 23, I'm 21, and I've got a sister aka Sparky who is almost 15.
Siblings are always nice. :) (I am the only child.)
they're not always nice. sometimes they're obnoxious.
I meant that siblings as a phenomenon are always nice. Having them is nice. An individual sibling may not be always nice.
I am sure there is an inyon in nigleh or in Chassidus one could use as a moshol for this idea.
No left side in atik? Too abstract? (Too pretentious?)
