Do you enjoy speaking like immigrants?

This was one of the funniest comments to this post:
Please speak English and use the verb “let” with an object, i.e. “My husband doesn’t let ME.” Do you enjoy speaking like immigrants??? Well, yes, I guess you do. But is doesn’t say much for your education or your job prospects.
I must say, I have always enjoyed speaking like an immigrant. I also enjoy walking, eating and drinking like an immigrant.

And now on the topic:

“I know nothing.”

“I learn it from a book.”

“Uno, dos, tres”.

“Si.”

“Fuego!”

“Typical of this place...”

“Don’t panic!”
“What else is there to do?”

Can you trust your intuition?

Some people believe in figuring out things using intuition, not intelligence.

Others find this idea strange, to say the least. It seems to them that after all, being a human being is all about using one’s rationality, in knowing why something is wrong or right, good or bad, etc., not just getting a feeling from somewhere deep inside, over which one has no control.

It seems to me, intuition is only useful at the beginning, if you need a push to one direction or another, or in the middle, if you are stuck and don’t know where to go next. Or if you can’t follow the logic.

But not in the end, when you have to make a decision. I mean, if I’m making a decision for something or against it, it seems to me that I want to know why I made it; I want to be able to explain the logic to any stranger, not tell him that some mysterious force inside my pushed me towards this or against it.

Maybe it’s because I like to be in control.

Of my life.

I mean, sometimes it’s all about probabilities and uncertainties, but still, better some control than no control at all.

A lot of people believe that because things are in Eibeshter’s hands, we don’t have responsibility to take control and make decisions. Learning Jewish philosophy shows us they are wrong. Learning Chassidus shows us why they are wrong.

Misplaced

My mother just told me that she cannot watch Russian TV channels from Dish Network, because apparently (as the company’s representative told her), the particular satellite used for some international channels “got lost”. They just can’t find it… somehow.

Lawyers need guns

… in case they need a reason to get out of defending a client they don’t like.

In case you haven’t guessed, Denny Crane is a big supporter of the Second Amendment.

And, in light of recent elections, guns and racial relations:

— Watch. Wallet. Gun. Knee. Right foot. Left foot.

Boston Legal about Christians, Jews and aggression

From Boston Legal, a conversation between Allan Shore’s secretary, Catherine Piper (above), and the firm’s client, Bernard Ferrion, who has recently commited two murders (one against his mother, another — against his only friend, an elderly neighbor):
All I’m saying is: if you killed two people and if you’re as alone as you say, there couldn’t be a better time for you to turn to Jesus Christ, your Savior.
Under normal circumstances I’d agree.
But?..
I’m Jewish.
Bernie, there has never-ever been a Jewish serial killer.
Son of Sam? David Berkowitz?
He was adopted. Genetically, he’s one of ours.
Well, what are you saying?
I am saying that if you’re out there murdering people, on some level, you must want to be Christian. Would you let me take you to church?
(Update: Catherine Piper ends up killing Bernie with a skillet, when she realizes he is too evil, and stores his body in a freezer in her basement.)
